Week one was tiring but I had a lot of fun preparing the boys' recess food from home every morning or the night before.

Came week two and I was shagged as my body was still adjusting to the new morning routine - I normally wake up at 6.30 am and be ready by 7 am to wait at the shelter to be picked up by my manager (free ride in the morning why not right).

Week two menu was a bit of prepping the ingredients the night before. Meaning to say, I prepare the ingredients the night before (marinate whatnot) so I don't have to rush in the morning with the chaotic boys in tow.

Day one of week two was Snack Cheat Day because I forgot to inform the helper of the week's menu and she already prepared what she could. Haaaaa. Something I kept in mind to do is to inform her on Sundays for the week's menu.

The boys had chicken karage, scrambled eggs, and crabsticks with banana cake and grapes on the sides. They each got 5 to 6 pieces of grapes since they could not consume any more than that due to their health.

Day two was sushi day again because it was easy aiy. But this time they requested for egg sushi roll and crab sushi roll too.

It's not possible to prep the ingredients the night before coz you know sushi is very fussy. Working with gloves all.

The meal comes with hotdog bread, some grapes, and an individually packaged chocolate biscuit.

They came home with empty lunch boxes and said they loved it - sushi eaters! Always eating my sashimi too whenever I grab some on our grocery day. Even though tired, whenever they say they love the food packed, there goes all my tiredness.

I had beef kimbap for my lunch and packed a few for the team as well because it's so good! Roll them in with some carrots, Japanese 오이 - yummy max (for me laaaa).

The boys chose Chicken Rice for day three but me being dumb - while marinating the chicken at midnight, I actually saw the recipe stating to put one tablespoon of black pepper which I did and realized that it was too much and checked the recipe again - only to realize that it was supposed to be ONE TEASPOON and not a tablespoon. I ended up making Black Pepper Chicken Rice instead.

And being the dumb me again in the morning - I went to the kitchen straight after opening my eyes and made the chicken rice - but I took the mixed brown rice container instead of the biryani rice container. Yup! That's how dumb I am nowadays.

Baked the chicken for 40 minutes - showered and waited for the rice to be cooked in between. Their meal consists of Black Pepper Chicken Rice with apple slices and individually packaged chocolate biscuits. Had to separate the chicken sauce for the elder boys since their recess is after 10 am.

I packed some for the team as well because the chef was teasing me about how I make my Chicken Rice rice!

Day four was a bit easy too - Chicken Tortilla Wrap! Just had to steam the chicken breast, place some mayonnaise as the base, some salad, some scrambled eggs, and the steamed chicken before wrapping. I defrost the chicken breast the night before by placing it in the fridge instead of the freezer.

On the side, the helper made a quick scrambled egg and steamed cheese tofu together with the chocolate biscuit and orange slices. The menu was easy but the wrapping part, I cannot make it. Never was it possible for me to wrap a nice tortilla wrap. Sad much!

Cheat snack day again for the last day of the school week because I overslept and had to grab to work instead - chauffeured the boys along to school since we were all late as well. LOL!

They had seaweed chicken with nuggets, crabsticks, and fries along with chocolate crackers and apple slices.

A simple meal that the kids loved more because it was easier for them to munch during recess.

At times, they did not finish their meals because they said they felt full or they would finish them up at student care during lunch instead if they were still hungry after having the lunch food provided by the student care.

Seeing my kids feeling happy to bring their recess food every day and asking what's tomorrow's menu every night, I know I did change something in all of us. They behaved much better (at times) ever since I got them involved in our daily plans.

Another day for another story on how they each have their 'ME DAY' aites! For now, enjoy these easy dishes!

XOXO, N.A
